 The unique Hotbeams renewable energy system features the very latest Vaillant evacuated tube type solar collector.A massive 98% of the available direct (infra red) and diffused (ultra violet) radiation is translated into energy which provides the primary heating source for free domestic hot water.
The energy is tranported from the collectors via a special fluid (Tyfocor) to the lower coil of a purpose made twin coil solar cylinder which also has an upper coil connected to the conventional boiler.
A temperature differential controller ensures that when the solar gain is insufficient to provide hot water at a pre-determined temperature, the conventional boiler will fire to make up the shortfall. This means that depending on the time of year, hot water is provided exclusively by solar or by the conventional boiler but sometimes its a combination of the two working together and this is how savings on utility bills are achieved and CO2 emissions reduced.
The final component is the savatherm boiler management module which attaches to the existing boiler and controls the firing cycle. Temperature sensors placed on the flow and return pipes to and from the radiators and one measuring the outside temperature ensures the boiler works smarter not harder and the savings contribution from the Savatherm alone during the winter months can be anything up to 30%.
